Nintendo recently announced that it would be releasing digital versions of its full retail games, available on both the 3DS and the Wii U, and that the service would be ready on launch day of the Wii U. The first game to be available for digital download is the freshly announced, New Super Mario Bros. 2.
“For our digital business to grow drastically, it is imperative for us to expand the exposure of the digital download products to potential consumers.”
“Starting from [New Super Mario Bros. 2], the company will offer the software titles that Nintendo itself publishes in both packaged and digital download formats so that our consumers can choose the way to purchase them.”
This will also be available “from day one of the Wii U’s launch”
